Dog Love

Doc is now about eight months old.  He’s very excitable, still chews furniture sometimes, and jumps and runs around like a loony when he’s happy.  A little bit like his human.  One thing is certain though, they (Doc and Little T) already have a special bond.

We take Doc with us when we pick little T up from play-school and when we get home, they usually have some cuddle-time on the floor.

It still scares me sometimes, so I do still keep a close eye on them, especially when he gets really excited and makes little nips but never with aggression.

Most of the times though, he is very patient with her.  He lets her clamber all over him, strangle him, and wrestle him.

As seen above.

He isn’t allowed on the couch, so when little T is watching, he likes to sit there and wait till she is done so they could do it all over again.

The most astonishing thing is that Doc is slowly looking a lot like our old dog Mutt who died of bone cancer.  Already he has bits of white on his beard and his chest.  Unlike Mutt though who liked to talk with his eyebrows, Doc does it with his eyes.  Strange really.

I'm a part-time writer, full-time mother and dog-walker living in a small English village by the sea with my husband, daughter and a dog named Doc.

  1. Doc is very cute indeed! Dogs are very loyal they will protect their pack (family) and love them unconditionally. However I don’t think it is wise to leave a small child alone with any dog without supervision, this is as much for the dogs safety as for the child’s.

  2. Oh, they look like they get on so well! Both utterly adorable. My dog is 9, and just likes to keep out of the way of the kids and sleep – lazy hound 😉

    • They do get on so well… really pleased about that, though like I mentioned I do keep a close eye on them because it makes me a little bit nervous seeing them that “close” 🙂

  3. So cute! And very soon they’ll be older and you won’t have to monitor so much, but even when my little 6 pounder, who loves babies, is around them, I’m extra attentive. Dogs can’t talk and tell us not to do that! 🙂

They are just so adorable, I love Little T growing up with Doc, it’s the perfect age!

How’s the house thing going? Found a new one? Should I just not bring it up?

    • I know! That’s why my husband and I are so vigilant when they are around each other 🙂

At the moment, we are actually thinking of staying put and might just convert the attic for an extra bedroom/study. But let’s see… No worries, not really upset about it anymore 😉

  4. Fab post – I love writing about the bond between Ash & Lucas and think it’s great the our Little Big People get a bond with our gorgeous faithful canine companions xx
#pocolo – sorry the PoCoLo comment is so late but was working all weekend xx

    • Thank you. Little T loves to wrestle with her dog too 🙂 I’m not so sure Doc likes it, but he’s ever-so patient with her.
