Sleepless in Bos

I’ve been having trouble sleeping for the past month or so.  It’s awful.  I go through the days with a heavy head, grumpy and feeling really lethargic.  Yes, I still blame the weather, although to be fair, the sun has been out for a few days now and yesterday, it almost felt like spring has sprung!

I try not to nap during the day, but sometimes after doing chores, I lay down to relax or read, and before you know it, I’m dozing off and then wake up with a heavy-head and heart.

Went out with a friend a few days ago for some coffee, a mooch and we did some impromptu shopping which was kinda nice.  Dropped by Boots and saw Herbal Nytol on the counter and decided to try that one out.  I’ve only tried it once, don’t really want to depend on it though, but it’s nice to know I have something around, just in case it gets really bad.

I’ve tried chamomile tea before bed, which I’ve always loved anyway, but I’m afraid it doesn’t work on me.  I’ve also tried seeking advice when Naptimethoughts opened up an advice column on her blog, you can read all about it here. So if you need advice on something, do drop her a note and I’m sure she’ll whip up a good one for you.  You must understand though, that it’s all done for the laughs, if you need serious help, I’m sure you’ll know where to get that 😉

Perhaps, I can also blame winter or the weather for these sleepless nights? Would that mean then that I won’t get any decent sleep till spring has sprung?  Eeeh Gad!

Do you suffer from sleepless nights too?

What helps you sleep?
Lastly, have you tried Herbal Nytol?

Any bad side-effects?

  1. I loved your question to Naptimethoughts! Actually, I loved your response to her response to your question! LOL! I have insomnia, and Melatonin is my favorite, I can take it for a few nights and then all is well, no side affects for me!

    • Don’t really know much about sleeping pills, since I never really took them. Is Melatonin an over the counter drug? I’m a bit hesitant to take anything strong. You see, T sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and calls for me. I’m worried I won’t I won’t be able to hear her!

      • It’s a vitamin, and yes, it’s over the counter. And yes, I stopped taking it when Mr. T was little because I had the exact same concern! I was told over and over again that it wasn’t possible, that I would hear Mr. T, or anything really, but, yeah, who trusts doctors anymore?!? 🙂

      • I didn’t see someone already mentioned melatonin. Yes, it is an over-the-counter pill.

  2. I was cracking up reading your response and advice from Naptimethoughts! Gosh, I’m not sure how old you are but it seems lots of ladies my age have trouble sleeping. In the 40’s. I also try and drink the chamomile tea, which doesn’t really seem to do the trick, but I drink it anyway as part of my routine. I also use lavender oil. Also doesn’t seem to help much. Then I picked up a magazine this week “Dr. Oz” has a magazine I guess. It had an article on this very thing. He suggested a few things 1) close your eyes and remember a childhood memory, for example the route you walked to school and try and remember every detail, he says before you know you will drift off to sleep. B) tense up your muscles starting from your toes all the way to your head slowly until you fully relax and slip into slumber. I tried the childhood thing and I think it kind of worked. Sorry so long of a reply.

    • I’ll be 42 this March, perhaps it’s the age then? 😉 Thanks so much for the tips, will try out number 1 😉 x

      • Melatonin pills will help. I am in the 40’s too, and that helps. It’s a natural booster of our melatonin to help with sleep.

  3. Oh, this sounds frustrating. I very rarely struggle to get to sleep, to be honest. I read, I turn the light out and I’m asleep! I appreciate it must be really frustrating, though, so hope you find something that helps soon x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

I feel for you, being unable to sleep is a complete nightmare. I hope you can find something to help you soon #WotW x

  5. I have nights like that occasionally but have never taken anything for it. Have you tried Quiet Life tablets? They aren’t sleeping tablets but if it is worrying keeping you awake they do help to ease the mind.

  6. Get melatonin pills from the pharmacy. It’s a natural sleep aid. I have sleepless night from time to time and that helps.

  7. I hope you manage to get some more sleep soon! I go through periods of insomnia but usually it’s just due to having a busy head and sometimes writing down my thoughts helps with that. I’ve only tried Herbal Nytol once and it did help me sleep although I did feel a bit fuzzy-headed in the morning for a bit.

    • That’s what my husband said too, about having a busy head. Also felt fuzzy-headed, but hard to tell whether it was from Nytol, because I do sometimes feel that way in the morning 😉 Hopefully, my nights will be better soon, thanks!
