Reluctantly Writing

After much chasing and countless phone calls, BT has finally connected us to the online world and we’re back … albeit a bit reluctantly.  Not for the husband though, his work has piled up and has loads of marking to do.  We still have pictures to hang on the wall, the small ones I can manage, but not the big ones like our mirror I want to hang by the fireplace in the living room, I’m afraid that will have to wait till he has time.

I’ve actually really enjoyed my offline days, although of course the blog has suffered and I’m slowly trying to dust the cobwebs off it.  Do forgive me if I’m a bit slow in doing so, I’ve never been known to be fast … hence the blog name, Little Steps.  In everything I do in life, I take little but certain steps forward.  Don’t get me wrong though, while I enjoyed my time off the world-wide web, I’ve also missed my little space online as mentioned on another post.  Blogging has always been my “me time” for the past decade or so of doing it.  It’s even more important to me right now that I’m a mother, I like to chronicle little T’s moments, not just the important ones, but the ordinary ones too.  And admittedly I’ve also been earning a bit from it which is nice, not enough to pay the bills of course, but one can always dream right?

At the moment, I’d really rather curl up in my arm-chair by the window with a book and a cup of tea, with bluebells on the windowsill which little T helped pick from our garden.  And I have yet to hang the curtains in our bedroom and our conservatory still looks like a dumping ground.  But my blog beckons and I’m its humble servant ready to tap away again.

What have you guys been up to?

Do share.

    • Thanks Merlinda. It’s just nice to have extra space for T when she has friends over and we finally have that office! 🙂 x

  1. Glad to hear your back andyougot ur internet sorted. Not much been happening here just general parenting stuff with going to groups etc.

    • It’s funny how suddenly our social lives become different once we have kids … different circles and the like. Could be fun too! 🙂

  2. It’s always nice to have a little break from the internet and take a step back. I’ve had a few (unplanned) blogging breaks since starting a couple of years ago and they always make me feel more refreshed. Good luck getting everything in order xx

  3. Great to hear you are connected again 🙂 I’ve been getting busier at work while trying to get my blog back on track … burning the candle at both ends!

    • Thank you. BT is such a nightmare to deal with … Thank goodness we’re connected now.

    • Thank you! BT was actually horrible… I didn’t mind having internet so much, but chasing BT was ugh…. 🙂

  4. welcome back dean.. its some times really nice to go offline as you can get really caught up in the whole social media end of the blog. I spent a week in Portugal lately.. with no wi fi and it was exactly what I needed x

    • Thank you! Actually going offline now and then is really good too 🙂 I bet you had a lovely holiday in Portugal 🙂 x

    • Oh Boot is loving her new home too and she’s allowed out now and comes and goes all the time 🙂 x

  5. Oh I can relate to this! I’ve been offline for about 3/4 weeks and have just started getting back into it, but some nights all I want to do is cuddle kipper with a sip of wine and have an early night!! The blog has suffered terribly. I’m not so bothered by it as I thought I would be! Enjoy the cuppa and u hope the mirror makes it up soon X

    • Oh how exciting that you’ve given birth! Was thinking of you and all the other pregnant mums I’ve been reading updates on. Glad all is well and good 🙂 x

  6. Glad to hear you’ve got the internet sorted. I went on a technology break a few weeks ago and stayed somewhere really remote without internet, it was odd how desperately I wanted my laptop on the first day. I felt lost without it. But after a while I got so used to not having the internet and actually started to enjoy the peace, that it took a while to get back into blogging again when I came back. xx

    • I know what you mean. But the first week I guess I was too busy with the new house. Still am, that’s the reason why I have mixed feeling about being back… While I love it, it’s also nice to be off it. x

    • That makes me feel better then. To think you guys moved well before us! 😉 xx

  7. I actually had a couple of days offline whilst camping on the weekend. It’s refreshing isn’t it. We went to our first festival as a family and camped there. The kids loved it x

    • T hasn’t been yet. Would also love to go to a festival with her. We’re thinking probably Camp Bestival. x

  8. I’m moving house in Friday and am dreading how long we’ll be without Internet for! I’ve actually barely blogged this week but I like to have access to social media and the mobile signal in our area is rubbish. Glad you’re connected aga wand good luck to your hubby catching up with marking xx

    • Are you also with BT? If yes, brace yourself for a long wait, or maybe we were just unlucky? 😉 I actually could access emails/social media on my phone too, but don’t really like using it. Let’s just say my smart phone isn’t very smart 😉 x
