Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely

Each year you bring to me delight, meaning in the christmas night
Oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely

This was our tree last year:

We used to like trees that tall.  This year however, we decided to get a smaller tree because our bureau now stands on where we used to put our Christmas trees.

This is our little Christmas tree, fresh from the tree farm (I’ll save that for another post), still empty, devoid of any Christmas ornaments.

And here’s little T busy decorating our tree.

Here’s little T’s finish product:

Our lovely dinky tree 🙂

Up-close of some of my favourite Christmas tree decorations, including little T’s special bunny ornament.  I love the little drummer boy and angel which I bought when we re-visited St. Michael’s Mount in Penzance last October.  We also have some candy canes hanging on the tree.  T hasn’t discovered that it is actually is edible and not an ornament.  Let’s keep it that way, till at least Christmas Eve, shall we?

Someday I’m going to have a grown-up’s Christmas tree.  You know with glass baubles and other glass ornaments hanging without worrying that little hands will take them down or worse break them.  For now, I’m definitely enjoying all these toy-like Christmas decorations.

Btw, I’ve been watching Kirstie Allsopp’s Homemade Christmas lately and next year, I’m going to attempt to make some of my own tree ornaments – so help me God.

I’ve linked this post-up with Sticky Finger’s The Gallery.  This week’s theme is Christmas trees! 🙂

  1. I love that I don’t have a grown up tree – it fills my heart to look at my tree and see funny Santa’s and snowmen, Spongebob and Scooby Doo all nestled next to my garish candy cane colored peace sign and glass dangles! 🙂 I wish you many, many more years of a tree that holds such memories for you!
And we load up our tree with candy canes every year – peppermint and mint chocolate! They almost last all month long! Everyone who walks in grabs one! And Mr. T grabs two at a time!

    • I know what you mean… I am enjoying my Christmas tree too and really, really, loving it. Someday, that will probably take ages from now… I do want to eventually have a grown-up tree… Then again, I might change my mind 🙂

  2. Wow Dean I just love your tree. I loved the first photo of your last tree but the new one that T has decorated is so much better, it looks wonderful. Great decorations too, just superb 🙂

  3. That’s a beautiful tree! For so many years we’ve always had a tiny one, about 15inch and we place it on top of a table, now that we have moved to a slightly bigger apartment we got a 5feet (I think) and the kids love it! Too bad it’s not a real tree but we love it just the same! 🙂

    • That’s lovely! 🙂 I’m happy for your kids. As if we can get a real tree back home. If we could, I bet it won’t last a couple of days! Hahaha. That’s what I love about Christmas here in England, the real tree! Although I miss our Simbang Gabis and all the other food like the putos etc…

    • No, not at all. T knows that none of her presents are under the tree, They are for her grandparents, cousins, and aunts.. and she “helped” me wrap them so she kinda knows what’s inside each and every present. Her presents are all hidden 🙂

  4. I’m another one with no desire for a grown up’s tree either. I love that mine is cat, dog and kid friendly.

    • Thank you! Will absolutely do my best to make handmade ornaments next year, even though I’m not really a “crafty” person. The will is there, but I’m afraid the talent might be lacking! 🙂 Have a lovely Christmas!

    • Oh dear, will definitely do my best. I’m not a very “crafty” person, though the will is there – I’m afraid the talent might be not 😉 Thank you! Have a lovely Christmas 🙂
