Missing Summer already

Summer seems to have gone, even though at night, we still kick our duvets off because it still feels too warm, and they remind us too much of cold winter-nights.  But it’s obvious, that summer is indeed gone, mornings are now a bit chilly, the nights are getting shorter and the atmosphere just seems greyer.

Looking at these photos now, summer feels like a different reality.  Instead of blue skies, we are now surrounded by dull ones.

And I look at these photos and pine for those  long summer days once again.

Days when it’s warm enough to go to the beach in summer dresses…

Eat ice-cream …

especially, bucket-loads of ice-cream!

Go exploring …

or make beach-sculptures made of stones …

What about you?

Do you miss summer too?

Linking-this post up with #countrykids.

  1. I love summer, but I must admit I also love autumn. Autumn is so beautiful and there are loads of activities to do from autumn crafts to autumn walks.
    Lovely pics!

    • Thanks! I love autumn too. Love the golden colours of the leaves … Just don’t like it though when it gets really grey … and then winter. Yikes!

  2. I love summer, and this one felt especially poignant, as I’m sure it did for you, knowing that Boo would be starting school soon afterwards. It feels like a long time ago now, and my mind’s now firmly rooted in autumn x

    • I think part of me is left behind … in the summer. If not for the beautiful chancing colours, brown then golden, I don’t think I’d be happy about autumn at all! x

  3. Yes! I do miss the lovely summer days, though as I also love Autumn and that cooler nip in the air I shouldn’t grumble too much, I know! I’m impressed by that ice cream bucket though! #countrykids

    • I’m not really sure whether she was pleased about the amount of ice-cream or the idea of having another bucket to add to her collection 😉

  4. I miss the long evenings but we are still clinging onto the glorious sunny days here in cornwall. I can’t think when we last saw rain, we are making the most of it with as many beach trips as possible and I am refusing to move on from flip flops. It will all change soon I’m sure and we too will be reflecting, good to have the memories though and your summer looks filled with fun from the photos. Thank you for sharing with me on country Kids.

    • Already the temperature feels lower down here in our little village. I guess it’s because of the breeze from the sea that makes it really feel as if summer is gone. I agree with you about the flip-flops! I may have given in to cardis, but I’m not putting my flip-flops and sandals away … not just yet 😉

  5. Having grown up in southern California and now in London, I find the summer is literally the blink of an eye around here. I am trying to like the change of seasons – the changing light, how the breeze can whip up fallen leaves, etc. But every single year I mourn for summer and wish it didn’t have to leave so suddenly.

    • I try not to dwell too much in the passing of summer… If I did I’ll probably succumb into S.A.D. I try to make myself busy with little projects and try to brighten up the house as much as I can. Just little tricks to make me feel better 😉

  6. I seem to look forward so much to summer and have so many plans; and now I look back and think ‘where did summer go, and why didn’t I do anything!?’ Lovely pics, looks like you had a great summer.

  7. It does still look like summer here with the sun always shining bright but the wind. Its starting to sink into your bones and straight into your ears whispering its autumn. The leaves too .. getting on the roads making crunchy sounds. I miss summer cuz of camping. I dont want to stop camping but I dont think we can when it will start to get colder. #countrykids

    • The sun’s been out here too, but since we both live near the sea, the breeze is already chilly! And yes, it doesn’t feel like summer anymore and definitely not camping weather/temperature 😉

  8. I miss the ease of summer, the fact that you don’t need to pack waterproofs or jumpers or all of that sort of clobber. If I’d known there was such a thing as a bucket of ice cream I’d definitely miss that too, but I do enjoy all the things that come with autumn too – I’m just hoping for a nice crisp sunny autumn not rainy miserable and damp all the time!
