A Country Kids Post: By the Cliffside in Widemouth Bay

Last Monday, we had a lovely family dinner out.  It’s lovely to go out once in a while, isn’t it?

We go to Widemouth beach a lot.  I’ve written more than  couple of posts about how we love it there – the beach, exploring its rock pools in the low tide or just walking the dog and combing the beach for its treasures.

cliffside2_littlestepsThis time we decided to explore a part of the cliffside where we’ve never been opposite the restaurant where we were booked to dine in.

It was a lovely late afternoon.  Little T and Doc were eager to explore.

Watching the sunset from the cliffs must be a quiet an experience.

We’ll have to find out next time, since it was time to go, our table was waiting.

Do you remember when and where you last saw a beautiful sunset?

Was it abroad?  Or just in your back garden?

Do share.

  1. Lovely photos, looks like a beautiful beach to visit. When we go on holiday, we try to at least one night stay up and watch the sunset. There is something so peaceful about it x

    • So true. There’s something special about ending the day watching the sunset. x

    • Same here. There’s really something calming about being by the sea side isn’t it? 🙂 x

  2. I love the beach, and i love sunsets! i grew up on the coast and would regually go down to watch the sunsets in the summertime, but my favorite place by far to watch a beach sunset is Newport Beach in California, its lovely watching the surfers and people just leisurely enjoying the scene , when its usually such a busy place.

    • I can imagine watching the sunset in California is something special! Someday … 😉

  3. Fi Ni neachtain

Such a lovely looking place. Living on an island we are always by the sea. I haven’t watched the sunset for quite awhile now but now you’ve made me want to drive to the beach to see it for myself, so calming.

  4. That is a stunning view and Widemouth Bay is somewhere I have always wanted to go to. The last time I saw a sunset I was walking to the train station.

  5. Lovely photo’s. Funnily enough my youngest has been asking to see a sunset. He’s specified it should be in Birmingham? He’s learning about countries so I suspect he means Belize, or Bora Bora … possibly Belgium? Pretty sure he doesn’t mean Birmingham although I’ve not said as much. Birmingham is easily the most realistic.

    • Perhaps he meant Barbados, or the Bahamas, or maybe Bahrain? Then again watching the sunset in any of the locks in Birmingham would be lovely loo. Preferably one near a pub with a garden.

  6. Lovely photos the last time I saw a sunset was when we were walking home through a park was gorgeous.

Thank goodness I’ve found your blog again!! Could not find anything after the ‘Announcement’ post. I have seen some truly wonderful sunsets on the Scilly Isles particularly over the island of Samson. Hope you’ve had a lovely birthday and that the house move goes smoothly. x

    • Oh how odd! I’m glad you found me again. Yes, I bet the sunsets over at the Scilly Isles are beautiful . Xx

  8. Oh it looks gorgeous, I just adore the UK for stunning and varied landscapes to explore. I’m lucky to live in an area with the most stunning sunrises and sunsets, it’s magical xx

  9. Looks like you had a fabulous time – I always get nervous when my kids get close to the cliff edge

    • Same here. It it wasn’t me who was holding my daughter with a firm grip, it was her dad. x

  10. What a breathtaking gorgeous spot! There’s something so beautiful and peaceful about watching a sunset by a beach with children – an old time favourite of mine when we lived by the beach.

    • Yes, it’s lovely isn’t it? Love doing it too, although we don’t do it as often as we want. Look forward to doing this in the summer!

  11. Widemouth is a beautiful beach to explore although it’s not one of our regulars, I bet the boys would love to go up and make the most of the surf there one day! Little T looks like she’s having a great time exploring the cliffs with Doc by her side, it’s great that she enjoys exploring the cliffs with you. I can imagine a sunset on the cliffs at Widemouth is beautiful. Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

    • We see loads of surfers down there even when it isn’t beach weather. I’m sure the boys will love it! x

  12. I have welly envy, I am loving the bright yellowness of those and I wish I lived closer to the beach x

    • My daughter loves them too…. Perhaps, they have it in your size? 😉 x

  13. The perk of living near the beach is seeing the sunset or at least the colors before we go home lots of times. We would always watch the colors of the horizon quietly. It is always calming to witness. #countrykids

    • Certainly is. You’re lucky the beach is within walking distance, while it is also near where we live, we however have to get in the car!

  14. Always nice to see a favourite haunt from a different angle. We live in a valley, so no sunsets for us. I think the last one I saw was probably over the sea, which I think are the best. #CountryKids

  15. I forget when I last saw a beautiful sunset but have been caught out by the sun on geocaching adventures. #CountryKids

  16. Absolutely spectacular scenery and you got such beautiful shots of your daughter. Just lovely 🙂 I can’t remember the last time I saw a sunset…probably driving back from work on the M5. Sounds grim, but sets behind the Malvern Hills when heading to Gloucestershire from Birmingham so is actually quite lovely!

    • Oh no, you need a vacation! Then again, I think all sunsets are lovely 🙂 x
