School Uniform

When I was a little girl, I went to a private all-girls school and we only had one type of school uniform –   a boring dress and of course, a P.E. uniform.  So little T’s choice of uniforms is such an exciting novelty for me.

I love that she can choose to wear a polo-shirt, blouse, pinafore, a skirt, shorts or trousers.

So much choices!  Little T though likes to wear the pinafore and skirts over the shorts and trousers, which is a bit surprising, because she used to like shorts.  My little girl is certainly growing up 🙁

I’m also happy to share that she has finally settled in school.  If you’ve read the past blog posts, you will know that she’s been bursting into tears as soon as the bell would ring.  But slowly, she’s been really good and by Friday, she was lining up like the rest of the other kids sans the tears.  We thought that she’d be teary-eyed again this morning, because of the break over the weekend, but she was absolutely fine.  Phew.

Now the next step is for her to stay till lunch time.  Being the youngest in her class, we’ve decided that it would be best if she only attended half-days.  We are leaving it to her to decide when she wants to go full-time.  I have a feeling it won’t be long now.

What about you?

If you have a little one, are they settled now at school?

For those who don’t have kids, as a child, did you wear school uniforms?

Have a lovely week folks!

  1. Oh my goodness Dean! She is just adorable! And I had to go look up what a pinafore was! That’s not a word that we use – I think I’ve read it in a book maybe! And I can’t believe she is choosing the skirts over the shorts and pants – she really is growing up!

    • Oh Kate, before moving to England, I wasn’t used to that word either 😉 … I know, the little girl who used to love to wear shorts and trousers seems to be gone! Or maybe just for now, I’m sure she’ll resurface every now and then 🙂

  2. Lucky girl to have so much choice! My school it was pinafores all the way – I would have loved shorts!

    • Oh I love pinafores! Before moving to England, wasn’t familiar with that word at all. But I love them, little girls look so cute in them 🙂

  3. She looks so cuuuuute! I love that they have different types of uniforms. My daughter has the typical dress uniform and a PE uniform. In the middle photo, she looks like a boy hehehe

  4. She looks so cute in her range of school clothes, what a brilliant chance she has to express herself even within her school’s set parameters, schools can be so picky about what children wear nowadays. It’s great that she’s settled in well now!

    • I know. I’m glad the school she’s in aren’t that strict with uniforms. And yes, she seems to have settled in already 🙂

  5. So lovely that she has a choice of what to wear, gives her a bit of independence, she looks adorable in all the outfits 🙂 I’m so glad that she’s settled now, that must be such a relief for you. Thankfully both the boys didn’t even give me a backward glance, I suspect that my time will come with the wee girl though…!

  6. I remember my plaid uniform, black shoes and white socks. Sometimes I wish life was that simple, and I don’t have to stress what to wear everyday. Back then, I didn’t like it, of course.

T is adorable here in all her uniforms. 🙂

  7. I love seeing children in school uniforms. Glad she has settled well into school. My girls seem to be enjoying school this week too. #WhatstheStory

    • Me too! They look so adorable in their little uniforms 🙂 Glad your girls are enjoying school. Thank goodness little T is finally settled! 🙂

  8. Le Coin de Mel

Awww bless her, she has all the types of clothes allowed on the uniform list! My little man is also one of the youngest in his year and he looks tiny compared to most of his classmates. I’m sure by the time they’re 10, they will have caught up with the rest of them!

    • Yes, she does! Though she doesn’t like wearing her shorts and trousers. She prefers to wear her pinafores and skirt! Little T is also the youngest in her class 🙂

      • Le Coin de Mel

So sweet! My second is begging me to get her a pinafore for pre-school (not compulsory but most kids wear the uniform). I might give in 😉

        • Do give in! They are the cutest 🙂 I wish I bought more and didn’t buy the shorts (she doesn’t like to wear them). But who knows, maybe when it’s warmer next year, she’ll give in 😉

  9. She looks very cute and so many choices. My girls don’t have a school uniform and every morning as I am trying to get myself ready for work and them ready for school, I wish they did!
