A Country Kid’s Post: Sports Day 2016

Sports day in little T’s class happened sometime in mid May in between unpacking all our stuff.  It was a busy time for us, I don’t even remember the exact date unless I check our calendar hanging in our kitchen downstairs.

I remember feeling a bit self-conscious because I was wearing jeans too tight for me because I couldn’t find where I packed my other clothes, what box or luggage it was in. Yes, I know you’re probably thinking Why on earth is she keeping jeans that are way too tight for her?  No, I don’t keep it as an incentive to lose weight.  If I’m honest, I just can’t be bothered to chuck it!

Anyway, going back to T’s Sports Day, I’m just glad that this time she definitely ran the race and actually only skipped once and not the whole of it unlike last year.  I also noticed, she was eating her hair in a lot of the photos I took of her like this one:

Here she is waiting for the spring race to begin.  I’m proud to report that she didn’t come in last! Yay, go T! 🙂

And of course there was the usual Egg and Spoon Race.  I think that’s her I’m really, really concentrating look on her face.

More running …

And jumping …

Then there’s the relay, as you can see, she was way ahead of her friend… Yay, go T!  Apologies, had to blur the photos where there are other kids.  T’s school is very strict with posting photos online and we are constantly reminded not to … As if I ever would anyway.

And I’m pleased to announce that little T’s team won over-all in the 2016 Sports Day of their school.  The school is divided in two teams for the sports day and apparently, T’s team hadn’t won it in six years.  I overheard someone say sixteen years!  So well done to T’s team!

Has your little one had Sports Day at their school?

Were you ever good at sports?

Do share.

I was really crap at any sport.

Thank goodness, T isn’t 🙂

    • That is so funny! I was really crap too. I should’ve been more creative like you and also faked a sprained ankle!

    • I’m sure she’ll be braver this year! Last year, T just skipped through the races 😉

  1. Both my girl’s have their sports days next month and I can’t wait to go love cheering them on then seeing their little faces

    • It’s fun and exciting to watch, isn’t it? A chance to also catch up with other parents whom you don’t normally see at the school gates 🙂 x

    • On hindsight, I think I was not bad at sprinting, never won anything though 😉

  2. Good job T, it looks like you had a fab sports day! T looks so focussed in the egg and spoon race, it’s great that she was taking it seriously. It’s great she’s so enthusiastic about taking part, and well done to her school team for winning after so many years! Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

    • To be fair all the kids were excited and enthusiastic about joining in. Just shows what a fab school little T goes to 😉 x

  3. Well done, T! I think, I am the drama queen in every sports days at school, really crap in every sports. 😉 xx

    • I wasn’t good either, but not entirely a drama queen 😉 xx

  4. My 4yo is super competitive, good for her she is quite athletic but she really has a hard time when not winning something. She loves swimming! and one thing that I really admire of her is that she always tries her best.
Love the pics! it looks like yours had a great time 😀

    • Some of the kids in T’s class also cried when their team didn’t win. Thank goodness T was never like that. I’m sure your little one will learn it too 🙂

  5. That’s super sweet and it’s nice to see that she’s making progress from the year before… hehe.

I was a proper tom boy in school and enjoyed sports day but wasn’t very good to be honest – average I’d say. I liked them either way 🙂

    • Same here. Was a tomboy too who liked to climb trees but was awful in sports 🙁

  6. I was terribly crap at sports day!! I use to hate it and all my PE lessons to be honest! Hopefully bring a mum if two boys will mean they will fair better than me in the sports department!! Sounds like a great effort and congratulations on winning!! Xx

    • Same here. Didn’t really like sports much. But T seems to like it, which is great. I’m sure your two boys will end up liking sports too 🙂 xx

    • Oh good heavens… I wouldn’t want to join, not only because of the tight jeans, but because I’m really slow! I’d probably end up embarrassing T 😉 x

    • Let’s hope the weather will also be good when your little ones have their sports day 🙂

    • I used to keep my old jeans hoping I’d be able to squeeze into them… But I’ve given up 😉 Look forward to seeing Sebastian’s sports day! x

  7. My little one hasn’t started school yet so no sports day. I hated them when I was young. Pics are great. Glad her team won, that’s fab x

    • Soon your little one will have sports day too… Exciting times 😉 x

  8. I loved sports day as a child. Can’t wait for my daughters one.
Though I won’t be attempting to mum and dad run though
